How To Make a Coffin

Below you will find instruction on how to make a coffin.  This happens to be a European-style coffin or an old West style coffin.  A coffin is not expensive to make, but adds to the spooky feeling.

A coffin being put to gether the top
Here is the start of my coffin, you can see the lid it is made by putting together 9 1 x 4 boards with four cross boards. The length is 75 inches to allow a six-foot person to stand or lie in it. I made it using nine boards so I could put things inside in the future. Instead you could use seven which would make a narrow coffin and lighter.
some of the sides of the coffin
Here you can see some of the slides waiting to be put together. I made the coffin 4 boards high. With extra height I can put special effect underneath bodies or other things I might put inside. Three boards could be used instead to make it smaller and lighter.
It is starting to look like a coffin
You can see how it starts coming together, and looking like a coffin. It's easier to put it together if you screw the bottom to the sides. Then put the bottom on top of the sides, then screw a side on from the top. I started with bottom then the sides one at a time. From there you can screw upper sides on, and then the top. Then you can paint it with a watered-down gray or black paint to make it look old.you can add hinges to the lid ( on the inside would look best).
I removed one of the boards from the bottom
Here I removed one of the boards from the bottom to allow for cables to go in and out. An example would be to use a fog machine inside the coffin. This way the power plug can come out, or you can add a light.
