How To use a web gun

Below you’ll find instructions on how to use a web gun.

Web gun

You can see the type of Web gun that I bought.  This was my first experience with this type of equipment.  I hope that the hints on how to use it help from my own experience.

Air Compresser

I use a small compressor and tank for this project.  From my own experience, I would recommend a slightly larger tank.  I had to stop on occasion to allow the tank to fill up.  Or you could add a booster tank to the system.

Start of the webing

I used spider webbing for a base onto which I could spray the webbing.  I used commands hooks that were immovable on the walls of my house.  By using the spider webbing I cut down the amount of Web stakes and needed to complete my project.  Another advantage I found by using the webbing was that it gave it a stronger support behind the Web’s.  It became very useful if you days later when we had a very strong windstorm.  I think if I did not have the support behind the Web’s they would’ve all blown away.

On the ground I used wire hooks that normally are used to secure fabric to the ground.

Things that I would recommend.  Definitely lets your Web gun get very hot, this leads to a much finer Web.  And I do warn you to do any good job with the Web gun you will need pounds of sticks.  It takes about 3 ½ boxes to make a pound, or about 72 sticks.  Each box only carries 20 so we’ll take a couple boxes. I used all 3 boxes that I had to start, and had to get a new box for after the windstorm. So keep a box for repairs.

If you are going to use it inside your home to decorate a table or corner, remember this is a glue stick, it will stick to the surfaces and is very hard to remove.  In a table setting I would recommend putting a piece of cloth on top of the table that you can get rid of.  And things with very hard surfaces like old glasses or candlesticks.  That way he can buff off the Web’s much easier.  And for covering walls, I would use command hooks and hang the cloth from the hooks.  This way you would not damage the paint.

You’re a few photos from different angles showing how it looked during the day.

Here is a photo at night showing the cobwebs and the spider on the ground.  If you look at the window you will see the spider is trying to get out.
